Christmas Day

Winter storm
26/12/2016
A very blowy Christmas. Seven days for gales and severe gales, but could I capture an image to describe it. The classic problem with bad weather is always to get the energy, noise and movement of a good storm onto a flat lifeless pice of paper. The amount of spray in the air makes it difficult to keep the lens clean, but does provide that element of movement that is needed. The wind was constantly changing direction, so not producing the biggest seas we've had by a long way, but the flying spray has given the whole image a brushed effect (unfortunately difficult to see at this scale) and combined with the high contrast scene does help to convey the emotion of the event rather than just a straight forward record of some big waves. Hope you like it.
